But first, WHY should you be sharing posts from the Instagram feed to stories?
You can share other people's posts to your stories: It's a supportive thing to do and if they return the favour - or even if they simply share the fact that you shared their post (this is often done as Instagram prompts us to do this) - then it's a great way for you to get in front of a whole new audience.
You can also share your own posts to your stories: This is a great way to highlight a new post or to bring attention to any previous posts.
HOW to share a post to Instagram stories:
Click on the paper aeroplane symbol below the post (this can be someone else's post or your own post)
Click 'Add Post to Your Story'
Tag the person:
Choose the @MENTION sticker and type in their @username *you must tag them otherwise they won't be notified that you've shared their post*
You can add some text (nothing too long)
You can add a sticker by tapping on the sticker option again...
...and this time type what you are searching for in the search box. So this could be 'new post' if you're adding your own post to stories or 'read this' or you could simply search for an arrow for example.
You can move the text / the tag / the sticker / and even the shared post to any part of the screen. Just hold and drag with your finger.
You can choose how the post shows by tapping on it. You can show image only or image + the opening words of the caption. You can also alter the size by pinching it.
And that's how to share a post to your Instagram stories! Once you get the hang of it you'll realise how quick and easy it is. It's a great way to network with others and form connections.
